Biometric systems recognize individuals by analyzing biological or behavioral
characteristics, called biometric traits. These systems are widely used in security
scenarios, and their diffusion is constantly increasing in governmental, industrial,
and consumer applications. The most accurate biometric technologies (e.g., touch-
based fingerprint recognition systems and iris-based systems) require a high level of
user cooperation to acquire samples of the considered biometric trait.
