Touchless Fingerprint
Recognition
This chapter presents methods for touchless fingerprint biometrics. An important
characteristic of these approaches is the lack of finger placement guides, which
reduces the acquisition constraints compared with most touchless fingerprint recog-
nition systems described in the literature. To minimize the level of user cooperation
required, all studied approaches are based on images captured in a single instant.
The researched approaches can be divided into methods based on two-
