Chapter 14. PKI in Practice

I (Carlisle) had a conversation a while ago that wandered into the topic of PKI. Specifically, my acquaintance and I began to debate whether PKI had any real value (and, consequently, any real viability). My acquaintance would probably be among the last to describe himself as a PKI expert or a PKI fan (although he's very knowledgeable in security), but I didn't get the impression that he hates PKI either; in fact, by comparison to many, he's probably relatively neutral on the whole technology. He does have, however, enough close connections to Wall Street in New York that he seems to understand in some detail the current operations and future needs of the financial community.
