The overall focus of this chapter was to provide you with an understanding of the protocol mechanics of AppleTalk, IPX, and NetBIOS. Despite TCP/IP's increased usage in PC LAN environments, there are a large number of legacy installations in place today. Rather than replacing existing LAN protocolnetworks with TCP/IP, it is more common to find multiprotocol LANs being implemented.
