It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

If you’ve got your own Web service that integrates with your app, then you might want to leverage the same license information in a number of ways. For example, you could ensure that only users with a valid license for your app can use your service. You could provide features on your website or even in an app on a different platform that are based on the user’s purchases through your universal app. Through your service, you could even limit the number of devices from which a user can leverage certain features you provide.
