The Timer Element
A timer causes an application to initiate a given action after a given period of time. You might use a timer to display an advertisement or splash page before you automatically navigate the user to the start card of an application. Most often, a timer shows a card for a set length of time and then navigates the user to a new card. However, there are other ways to use timers, which we will explore a little later in the chapter. For developers accustomed to working in HTML, the timer element is similar the meta-refresh tag.
