History of the Scrum

The concept of Scrum was first detailed by Takeuchi and Nonaka (Nonaka and Takeuchi, 1986) in their Harvard Business Review (HBR) journal article in 1986 that I have previously mentioned. They observed product development teams regularly huddling together for rapid visual meetings (RVMs), which they viewed as being similar to a Rugby Scrum, hence the name. The approach to Scrum that revolutionized product development and innovation within software companies was developed by Jeff Sutherland and Ken Schwaber in the mid-1990s.
