Feedforward neural networks channel the inputs (to the input layer) through a set of computational nodes which are nothing but mathematical operators and activation functions arranged in layers to calculate the network outputs. The output layer is the final layer of the neural network and usually contains linear functions. The layers between the input layer and the output layer are called hidden layers and usually contain nonlinear elements or functions:
