Mentoring Models and Applications

In Part One, you read about the many benefits and the most likely problems for organizations, for mentors, and for protégés when the mentoring process is facilitated. To realize fully the beneficial results of facilitating the mentoring process, it is important to implement a process designed to function successfully and to avoid problems. Preventive actions and remedies for pitfalls can help guarantee a smooth, successful process most of the time. Figure 6.1 illustrates a generic implementation flow that contains the major components of a good mentoring process.
