Getting ready

Throughout this chapter, we will use data from the International HapMap Project. You may recall that we used data from the 1,000 Genomes Project in Chapter 2, Next-Generation Sequencing, and that the HapMap project is in many ways the precursor of the 1,000 Genomes Project; instead of whole genome sequencing, genotyping was used. Most of the samples of the HapMap project were used in the 1,000 Genomes Project, so if you have read the recipes in Chapter 2, Next-Generation Sequencing, you will already have an idea of the dataset (including the available population).
