I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
4 HOW TECH WORKS
To understand the focus and relevance of some of the roles in tech, it is important to have a high-level appreciation of how the tech sector works. There are lots of ways to slice or organise the processes of creating and maintaining technology.
Many organisations have two main ways of managing their technology: ‘change’ and ‘operations’.
Change: The roles in change-focused teams are about understanding problems, identifying opportunities and defining solutions. The scale of change can be large, involving multiple roles, and even multiple different organisations. Change can be delivered in the form of new projects or programmes of work, implementing new technology and upgrading and retiring or replacing old systems.
