14 USER-CENTRED DESIGN (UCD)

OVERVIEW

The development of new IT systems has sometimes prioritised process and data (system-centred design) over the needs and experiences of those using the system. To stay competitive, organisations are increasingly interested in the usability of their products and services, keeping the end-user of products at the heart of the development process. This is sometimes referred to as user-centred or human-centred design. Roles in this area often require design skills and creativity.
