2.2 Tivoli user interfaces
Tivoli provides both a graphical user interface (GUI) and a command line
interface (CLI). The GUI is often referred to as the Tivoli Desktop. In addition to
the desktop and the CLI, there are Web-based views of certain Tivoli
management functions.
Depending on the operations you are performing, you use either the desktop or
the CLI. For example, to view the relationships of policy regions and profile
managers, use the desktop to visually display those relationships. The CLI can
be more useful to perform repetitive actions, such as encapsulating Tivoli
