Description
This command configures a Permanent Virtual Circuit (PVC) on an ATM interface. It isn’t supported on all ATM hardware; more sophisticated ATM hardware tends to use the atm pvc command.

name Optional. A name to be assigned to this PVC.

vpi/vci The Virtual Path Identifier and the Virtual Channel Identifier, separated by a slash. If you omit the slash and the
vci, it defaults to 0. Ifvciis 0,vpicannot be 0, and vice versa.-
encap Optional. The type of encapsulation to use on the channel. Possible values are
ilmi,qsaal, andsmds.ilmiis used to set up a connection for the Integrated Local Management Interface, and is normally used with the VPI/VCI pair 0/16.qsaalsets up a PVC used for setting up and tearing down SVCs (switched virtual circuits), and is normally used with the VPI/VCI pair 0/5.smdsis used only for SMDS networks.
