7.1 Tools for monitoring and tuning
DB2 UDB offers several tools that help you monitor and tune your databases and
applications. Before you start tuning your system, you must have an idea of what
to tune. Monitoring helps find out what is going on in your system; for example, if
you have a long running transaction and need to know what the reason is. One
method to handle the problem is to try something and see if it helps. The better
method is to monitor the system, pinpoint the problem, and resolve the problem.
