I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Handheld Devices
Opinions vary on whether speech technology for handheld devices is the next market with a killer app or just a temporary fad. Those who think it's the next big market point to the increasing popularity of small devices, such as personal digital assistants, cell phones, and pagers. Although many of these devices have some sort of display, it's limited. If you want to communicate with the handheld device or the device is displaying information for you, the size of the screen imposes limitations. In addition, these devices are often used in a hands-busy, eyes-busy environment. People use these handheld devices while walking or driving. For these reasons, many believe that voice integrated into the handheld device is the wave of the future.
The opposing camp says this is a fad example. They cite unlikable scenarios (such as 50 people in a room all talking to their handheld devices), the lack of privacy, and the problems with environmental noise.
