Designing the Lateral Organization
In this chapter, we complete the design of the lateral organization, which is used in all types of organizations, and apply these lateral designs to single-business strategies that require them. The voluntary processes described in chapter 3 arise spontaneously; they are a form of organization from the bottom up. With formal lateral processes, the leader is more directly involved in the creation, staffing, funding, and setting of goals. Thus, there is more organization from the top down.
