Abstract
A robust digital immune system (DIS) is a necessity for organizations given the meteoric rise in cyber threats in recent years. Like the human immune system, digital immune systems are built over time. Digital immune systems need consistent and considerable investments in research and development, infrastructure, and personnel to fortify the cybersecurity frameworks with agility, resilience, and sophistication. The market for DIS is still in a nascent stage and is expected to grow exponentially in the next decade. In digital immune systems, advanced artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and real-time threat detection are used to identify, neutralize, and learn from cyber threats autonomously. However, implementing such advanced systems comes with significant economic considerations. This chapter examines the growth prospects, costs, benefits, and broader economic implications of adopting digital immune systems and draws upon recent data and industry trends.
Keywords: Digital immune systems, DIS, AI, ML, cyberthreats, cybercrime, cybersecurity
