Abstract
Manufacturing Industry 4.0 (MI4) is the fourth industrial revolution in the manufacturing industry. Industry 4.0, or I4.0, is revolutionizing manufacturing operations and processes by integrating through cyber-physical systems (CPS), the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), and advanced big data analytics (BDA). The evolution and implementation of MI4 differ from country to country, often influenced by national strategies and models. In 2011, during the Hannover Fair in Germany, it was initially coined as Industry 4.0. The initial model or concept focused on connected infrastructure, CPS, smart factories, IoT, artificial intelligence (AI), Digital Twins, and big data. It aims to monitor, control and optimize manufacturing operations in real time. It has been almost 13 years since GTAI conceived of Industry 4.0 as a strategy, and today, we look at the future of manufacturing with the realization of connected systems and advanced novel technologies shaping the overall industry. With the swift development’s in MI4 technologies, continuously evolving robust, model-based algorithms for calculating, controlling, and optimizing performance metrics in production systems has become essential and critical for incorporating intelligence into smart manufacturing practices, enabling automated factory ...
