THE SHOTS
DYNAMIC ACTION
Dynamic action photographs require a great deal of skill, concentration, and patience. When I was shooting the
photo of the horse jumping the gate, it took a while to work up the courage to crawl beneath the gate to get the
shot I wanted. But my condence grew as I studied the horse’s subtle movements. I set up strobe lights rst so the
horse could become comfortable with the units popping as he jumped. en I stood next to the gate as he jumped
a few more times before I nally crawled below and began to shoot.
