The Final Sound Mix

Preparation

The final mix is the all-important process of blending together the sound elements that will produce your film’s final soundtrack. For this there is much to prepare:

Checklist

You are ready to mix down audio tracks into one master track when you have,

Locked the picture content of your film
Fitted music, making any necessary picture or cutting point adjustments
Split dialogue into multiple tracks, grouping them so each channel requires the fewest EQ changes:
- a separate track for each mic position used in dialogue recording
- sometimes a different track for each speaker, depending on how many EQ changes are necessary for each mic position on each character
