Abstract
Drone technology is adopted by public safety operations to assist in disaster control and emergency relief. Drones need a proficient communication network for optimal functioning. The book chapter gives an outline of how drone network communication can be adapted for public safety. The chapter takes into consideration the unique needs of conventional public safety operations such as low coverage in remote and inaccessible areas, hostile environments, and limited response time. Thereafter, the chapter delves into the design and architecture of drone network communication systems with a view to harmonious integration with existing public safety communication infrastructure.
