This book is my attempt to describe some of the dynamics likely to arise in the course of committed, long-term software development. The dynamics arose in—I’d even say dominated—the projects of my own experience that I depict in this book. As you might expect, the way I observe and interpret these dynamics has evolved over time and continues to evolve.
One side effect of publishing a narrative that contains factual, historical accounts is the likelihood that everybody involved in the events I remind them of here will remember and interpret the events uniquely.
