SNOW [SNamprogetti–dOW] A process for making styrene by the dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene.
The catalyst is a zeolite containing gallium and a trace of platinum. An alternative feed is a mixture of ethane
and benzene. The reactor is a “fast riser,” followed by a stripper and a catalyst regenerator. Developed by
Snamprogetti and Russian workers and demonstrated by Dow Chemicals in a large plant in Freeport, TX.
