Thermical
Thermical A process for making aluminum metal, developed by Calsmelt Pty Ltd, Melbourne. Operates at
500°C lower than the *Hall–Heroult process. Alumina is mixed with molten aluminum in the presence of car-
bon to form aluminum carbide. This is heated with more alumina to produce aluminum and carbon dioxide.
