Introduction
Excel is a powerful modelling tool and spreadsheet models can be everything from a simple shopping list up to and including very sophisticated financial models containing lots of complex formulas, formatting and oftentimes even VBA code to automate processes.
It is no exception for a model to have a lifespan of several years. This is often because the model calculations (hopefully) have been validated and proven correct, which is a good reason to re-use them “as is”.
Given that a model may be decades old, this will also mean the model may have an editing history of decades and has survived various versions of Excel. Sometimes this causes Excel to show error messages when you use the file. ...
