So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Driving the sole plugin – ML2 under the hood
Prior to the Havana release, Neutron did not allow the integration of multiple core plugins at the same time. Thus, to extend the network layout and use third party software and hardware network features, cloud operators had to harden additional design customization in the existing OpenStack environment. That adds more complexity to distinguish which part of the core OpenStack network service would use which plugin.
From the code perspective, plugins are extensible Python classes that can be customized and written to integrate a specific network type and vendor device. A new plugin can be invoked through the Neutron APIs.
