So today two basic types of Firewall Intrusion Prevention Systems

(FIPSs) are prominent in the market: host based (application-specific

software plug-ins) and inline (gateways on the network). This book

has dealt exclusively with firewall security, but categorizing the

wide variety of firewall security solutions available under one term,

firewall, has created much confusion.
