After much research and many face-to-face user meetings, it became clear to the Fireworks team that Fireworks has been embraced by application and user interface designers. They witnessed time and time again designers dropping screenshots of scrollbars and check boxes and radio buttons onto their forms, and then painstakingly masking out text and replacing it with their own. They witnessed scrollbars being diced into multiple pieces and stretched laboriously to represent the actual width or height needed by the layout. In short, they saw the pain that users were experiencing to create application mockups that resembled their final output when running as a true application.
