Project Demo
Now that you’ve put together the hardware and loaded the appropriate
software components, it is time to set up the system and record some TV
shows!
Take your completed PC system and set it up next to the TV set you want
to view your programs on. Follow these steps:
1. Power up the Linux box.
2. Ensure that a live cable TV or antenna is plugged into the TV capture
card.
3. Connect the TVator Pro to the VGA output of the PC.
4. Connect a TV set to the output of the TVator Pro.
5. Connect the PC to your local area network.
6. Log in remotely and set up the crontab files to record your favorite
shows.
7. Play back your favorite shows by executing the play script from a remote
login.
Your completed system should now look something like the setup in Figure
7-2. You’re done. Time to enjoy some TV!
