Getting on with other people is easier when we feel good about ourselves and about them, and when we feel positive emotions. But in life there are times when we face difficulties that lead to negative emotions – frustration, irritability, anxiety and depression. These emotions get in the way of us getting on with others. We all prefer to be with people who make us feel good, so even our friends may avoid us when we are struggling with problems. Resilience is the ability to bounce back from the challenges and setbacks that life throws at us and maintain a positive outlook.
