DEVELOPMENT: PUT IT TOGETHER

Although the main design responsibilities are in the analysis and design stages, immersive learning design should be an iterative process because of its focus on performance improvement. It’s not as simple as presenting content, assessing for comprehension, and then checking the “learned” box. Performance is dynamic and variable, and so learning experiences that allow for performance practice should—as much as possible—be dynamic, flexible, and able to be adjusted over time. There are some design responsibilities and decisions that are important for immersive learning that affect the development, implementation, and evaluation stages of the design process.
