CONTEXTUALIZED LEARNING

If someone wants to learn to play golf, they can sit in a classroom and hear golf pros tell them how to stand, how to hold a club, how to swing the club, and so on. They can watch videos of how to hit the ball. They can read about the appropriate clubs to choose for the various situations encountered on the golf course. However, they will never learn as much in the classroom or by reading a book as they would learn on the golf course: A person tries to hit a golf ball with an actual club while an instructor shows them how to hold the club, how to swing the club, how to select the club, and then provides specific feedback following the swing on what the individual did right and how they could improve on future swings. ...
