Uploading to the App Store

Uploading to the App Store is a two-stage process:

1. Log in to iTunes Connect, and fill in the “paperwork” to support your app. This includes a mix of administrative data—price, availability date, and so on—and marketing information, including a text description and screen shots.

2. When the paperwork is complete, build your app as an archive and upload it to the App Store. As you may have guessed, to build for the App Store, you must select your App Store Distribution Profile before building.

As the app is uploaded, it’s checked for basic errors such as missing icons or an incorrect app ID. If it passes the checks, it enters Apple’s review queue. Most apps are reviewed within a few days. Occasionally, the process can take longer. (Very occasionally, it can take much longer. A handful of apps have stayed in the review queue for months. This happens very rarely.)
