In the last chapter, we discussed some of the emerging trends in knowledge management. Earlier, in Chapter 5, we examined the impacts KM can have on companies and other private or public organizations. These impacts result either directly from KM solutions or indirectly through knowledge created by KM solutions. KM solutions include KM processes and systems, which were discussed in Chapter 4. In this chapter, we argue that various KM solutions may have different impacts on performance depending on the circumstances, and we examine the key factors affecting the suitability of KM solutions.
