Develop resilience.
We all have to have a certain amount of resilience to make it through life. Fathers help their kids understand this as they experience the first of life’s many disappointments. They say things like, “You’ll do better next time,” or “Tomorrow is another day” to help put things in proper perspective. Dads teach us that what looks like a big disappointment today will soon become incidental and forgotten.
Resilience is a quality most adults don’t have enough of. Instead of keeping things in perspective and not letting emotions get out of control, many adults start blaming others or acting out in negative ways, thus making the problem bigger than it is.
