Using Opportunistic Data
This chapter is about using “opportunistic” data, or data that is collected in the normal course of business or under standard operating procedures rather than secured specifically for a given analytics initiative or series of these. As we noted in Chapter 3, “Exploratory Analytics,” some firms have no shortage of historical data, but not all of it may be useful for analytics.
