Hyper NURBS aren't well-suited for every kind of modeling, but this tool, which was introduced in version 6, has so many advantages that you'll find yourself asking how you ever survived without it. One big advantage is that we can work once again with the familiar basic objects and Polygons tools; we don't need to get used to a whole lot of new things.
Let's begin this chapter by modeling a piston. This will show you the greatest possible number of approaches to modeling. But this time, we're not going to use splines or Boolean objects or deformations; instead, we will achieve an optimal result in many fewer steps.
