Modeling the Connecting Rods
Now we can turn our attention to a new element, the connecting rod.
For this model, we'll use box modeling. In this process, we develop an object from a simple cube, which we then more finely divide and branch until the final shape has been achieved. The advantage of this is that you can use just four or five tools: Extrude, Extrude Inner, Knife, and Bridge. These tools and functions are already familiar to you.
We'll begin with the cube. Give the cube the measurements shown in Figure 2.24 and then select Make Object Editable so we can have access to its points and surfaces.
