Wireframing
Everyone has an opinion on software user interfaces. I am sure, like me, you have been sat in many long meetings with clients who seem very keen to discuss the color of a button without applying very much thought to what the button should actually do when you press it. Wireframing is the best means of agreeing with your client exactly what a Moodle web page is going to look like without suffering the pain of having to run through iterations of changes to code. There are many wireframing tools available (as a quick Internet search will reveal) but the wireframing tool I am going to use is an often-overlooked technology for sketching out initial designs, which I'm sure you will be familiar with: a pencil and a piece of paper.
