So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Configuring Neutron to use a VXLAN type driver
Virtual eXtensible LAN (VXLAN) is one of the overlaying drivers supported by the Neutron ML2 plugin. The process of tunneling involves encapsulating the data packets from the VM in a UDP packet. The VXLAN encapsulation process adds a special key called Virtual Network Identifier (VNI) in order to identify the network to which the data packet belongs.
The OVS instance on the Hypervisor is responsible for encapsulating the data packets coming out of the VM. The Neutron ML2 plugin provides the OVS instance with all the information that is required to implement a virtual network using VXLAN.
