I prefer using graphical text editors over character-based terminal editors, such as GNU nano[23] or Vim.[24] A competent text editor optimized for writing and executing Python code, called Thonny Python IDE, comes pre-installed on Raspberry Pi OS. This editor is perfectly fine for entering and running the Python scripts in this book, but if you want to use a world-class editor with numerous options and expansive add-ons, consider Microsoft’s free Visual Studio Code editor.
