By combining the IFTTT and PushBullet services with a smart assistant from Amazon or Google and a short Python script, you can now make your Raspberry Pi turn on your computer with your voice. With this basic IFTTT applet working, you can use your voice to activate other services in your home. Control actuators to unlock and open doors, raise and lower a motorized standing desk, and turn on a sprinkler system—all with the power of your voice. Reverse the message flow to transmit Pushbullet messages to other Internet-connected devices. Install the Pushbullet client on your smartphone and use it in lieu of sending the email alerts we’ve used in prior projects.
