So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Setup
Here’s what you need to build this project.
Hardware
- DockerPi SensorHub[37]
- Philips Hue bridge[38]
- Philips Hue smart plug[39]
- Desk fan or other appliance that can be toggled on or off via a power knob or switch.
Software
Start by installing and configuring your Philips Hue bridge and Hue accessories, such as smart lights and smart plugs, by following the instructions in the Hue bridge package. Use the Philips Hue smartphone app to connect to, label, and organize your accessories. You will need these labels to identify the smart plug and lights to control from the Python scripts in this book. The Hue app provides an easy way to organize and assign names to your Hue lights and appliances.
