42.3    Creating a New Django Project

Before we can start working with Django, we need to create a project folder that contains the configuration of our project. Django provides the django-admin tool for this purpose. The following command in the command line creates the project structure:

$ django-admin startproject news_site  

The news_site string is the desired name of the new project. After the successful execution of django-admin, a new folder structure with the project files exists on the hard drive (see Figure 42.1).
