At the end of a night shift RME workshop in 2015, my co-facilitator and I were shaking hands with participants as they left. A small group approached, arm-in-arm and smiling broadly; one proclaimed: “This is the best night out we’ve had for years!” Many years earlier, writer G. K. Chesterton is said to have noted, “Humor can get in under the door while seriousness is still fumbling at the handle.”
