Introduction to Networking and Media Streaming

THE ADVENT of broadband Internet access technologies like xDSL and cable modems are enabling streaming media applications. Driving applications include entertainment, IP telephony, and distance learning. The dynamics of streaming media through a network can be quite complex. This chapter identifies and characterizes some of the networking issues faced by media streaming.
