Linux and Newsgroups
There are three main ways to download newsgroups onto your Linux system: INN, C News, and Leafnode+. INN (Internet News) implements the NNTP (Network News Transfer Protocol), which is widely used over TCP/IP connections to ISPs or the Internet. INN is the most flexible and configurable method of downloading entire newsgroups and works especially well on larger sites that have high-speed connections to the Internet or those sites where a lot of news is transferred (for example, large educational institutions). C News was designed for downloading news through UUCP (UNIX to UNIX Copy) connections.
