In real production environment, the value of repl-ping-slave-period must be smaller than the value of repl-timeout. Otherwise, replication timeout will be reached every time there is low traffic between master and slave. Usually, a blocking operation may cause replication timeout since the command processing engine of the Redis Server is single-threaded. To prevent the replication timeout from happening, you should try your best to avoid the use of long blocking commands. The default value of repl-timeout is enough for most cases.

Special attention must be paid in our second scenario. The time it took for the master to dump the memory was longer than 60 seconds, which won't cause replication timeout. The same holds true if ...
