How to do it...

The steps for manipulating RDB are as follows:

1. To enable RDB persistence for a running Redis instance, call the CONFIG SET command as follows:

127.0.0.1:6379> CONFIG SET save "900 1" 
OK 
127.0.0.1:6379> CONFIG SET save "900 1 300 10 60 10000" 
OK

2. If we would like to enable RDB permanently, set the save configuration in the Redis configuration file:

$ cat conf/redis.conf |grep "^save" 
save 900 1 
save 300 10 
save 60 10000 

3. To disable the RDB persistence feature for a running Redis instance, add an empty string to the  save option with redis-cli:

$ bin/redis-cli config set save "" 
OK 

4. To disable RDB persistence, just comment out or delete the save options in the Redis configuration file:

#save 900 1 #save 300 10 #save 60 ...
